Before starting power down your system.

Step 1

Connect the KRMx02 48v power supply to the GND and 48V terminal blocks.

I recommend at least 16 gauge wire for this connection.

At this point you should be able to power up your system and check the GND and 48V terminal block. It should read 48V. Once testing is complete power down the system to continue.

Step 2

Connect the 48V-12V converter input wires to the terminal blocks.

Black - GND terminal block

Red - 48V terminal block

Step 3

Connect the 48V-12V converter output wires to the terminal blocks.

Black - GND terminal block

Yellow - 12V terminal block

Note that the two black wires on the converter are actually connected together. This connects the two GND terminal blocks.

At this point you should be able to power up your system and check the GND and 12V terminal block. It should read 12V. Once testing is complete power down the system to continue.

Step 4

Connect the 12V-5V converter input wires to the terminal blocks.

(-) Black input - GND terminal block

(+) Red input - 12V terminal block

Step 5

Connect the 12V-5V converter output wires to the terminal blocks.

(+) Red output - 5V terminal block

(-) Black output - GND terminal block

At this point you should be able to power up your system and check the GND and 5V terminal block. It should read 5V. Once testing is complete power down the system to continue.

Step 6

Connect a length of red and black wire to the included power input connector on the mother board.

Note that the wires should be long enough to reach your 5V and GND terminal blocks.

Also note the small jumper just behind the connector. The jumper should be on the two right pins as shown.

Important

Note the location of the two wires. If you reverse these wires you will blow up your mother board and controller.

Step 7

Connect the black wire on the other end of the connector to the GND terminal block.

Step 8

Connect the red wire on the other end of the connector to the 5V terminal block.

Step 9

Power up your system. The green LED on the UC300ETH should be glowing.

Once testing is complete power down your system to continue.

Step 10

Connect a length of red and black wire to the terminals shown on your breakout board.

Note that the wires should be long enough to reach your 5V and GND terminal blocks.

Important

Note the location of the two wires. If you reverse these wires you will blow up your mother board and controller.

Step 11

Connect the black wire from the breakout board to the GND terminal block.

Step 12

Connect the red wire from the breakout board to the 5V terminal.

Step 13

Power up your system. The red LED on the breakout board should be glowing.

Once testing is complete power down your system to continue.

Step 14

If you are installing the stepper driver connect a length of red and black wires to the two terminals shown.

I recommend at least 16 gauge wire.

Step 15

Connect the other ends of the wires to the two terminals shown. IE the red wire connects to the 48V terminal block and the black wire is connected to the GND terminal block.

Step 16

Power up your system. The green LED on the stepper driver should be glowing.

Once testing is complete power down your system to continue.

Conclusion

This concludes the inital wire of the KRMx02 controller upgrade. We will be adding the cables to the UC300ETH in the UC300ETH installation write-up.

Later as we hookup accessories we will add additional wiring.
