In this article I will show you how to make the X motor and bearing mount plates out of aluminum with a drill press.

Attach the motor mount template as shown here.

Attach the bearing mount template as shown here.

Mark all the motor mount holes with a punch.

Mark all the bearing mount holes with a punch.

Enlarge all the marks with a 3/16” drill bit.

Drill the holes as directed in the book. Note that the hole in the center of the motor/bearing cutout is not yet drilled.

Use the pilot drill bit from the hole saw to drill the center hole of the motor/bearing cutout.

Use a 1-5/8” hole saw to drill the motor/bearing cutouts.

The reference line is added as directed in the book.

Add the motor and bearing lower templates.

Mark the holes with a punch.

Drill the lower holes.

Deburr all the holes and edges and sand.

Install the plates as directed in the book.
